Every mom to be is concerned about the issue of pain control during childbirth. Their further concern is that they usually wish the birth to be as natural as possible. Hypnosis is a great option when looking at the various methods of natural pain control.

There are few women who would not agree that no matter how much they yearn to hold their baby in their arms they still have very mixed emotions when contemplating the birth itself. Lets face it, nobody except perhaps a masochist looks forward to potentially spending a few hours (or even days) in differing degrees of pain.

Hence it should come as no surprise that almost 100 percent of soon to be moms seek to find ways in which they might be able to manage the pain of child birth better. Some moms do dig their heads deep in the sand and try to ignore such matters, choosing to focus upon other aspects of giving birth, but eventually reality hits and they resume the search for something (or anything) that will reduce the pain.

Conventional methods of pain control are of course discussed in depth. Moms go into the birthing room having already made decisions about what medication they want to use or would prefer to stay away from. They have chosen some time ago what style of birth they want. They try to prepare as thoroughly as possible. Buy still the process of giving birth to a child is inevitably a shock to both mind and body.

Most moms veer towards the most natural forms of pain management and control. This is only to be expected particularly in an environment where we are increasingly more aware of the benefits of going natural. Thus I am almost always surprised by the number of moms who do not even give a passing thought to the use of hypnosis in that matter of pain control.

To me hypnosis is just such a "no-brainer" in this particular application! Why so? Well, hypnosis is perfectly normal and natural and so that particular box is immediately ticked. There are no negative side effects. Hypnosis is easy to use, simply by listening to a hypnosis mp3 recording. Hypnosis in itself is a state of relaxation and so is really effective in soothing the emotions of both mom and baby.

If that all isn't enough sound reasoning for you, add the fact that with hypnosis you gain access to the subconscious mind and suggestions can be made to alter your perception of pain so that it is dulled and diminished. Everyone must agree that this is a pretty good reason, surely?

So why doesn't every single mom to be at least give hypnosis a try? There's nothing to lose and everything to gain and it's really inexpensive.

I suspect the prime reason is that they simply don't know about it. They don't know what hypnosis really is or that it can help in such a basic way. There's a whole load of medical research that supports its effectiveness in pain control during childbirth (and many other adjunctive medical uses), but you won't find major drug companies paying for prime time advertising for its use!

This is the real crux of the matter I am sure. Thus please do spread the word. Hypnotherapists cannot afford to advertise in the same manner as major companies. We rely instead on word of mouth. If you are a mom to be, why not read up on the subject of hypnosis? Similarly, if you know a mom to be, why not suggest hypnosis to them?
