The importance of vitamin D, the ‘sunshine vitamin’, seems to increase by the week. Now researchers have discovered that it helps protect against colon cancer.
People with high levels of the vitamin in their blood are 40 per cent less likely to develop the cancer, researchers have discovered after profiling the health of more than 520,000 participants.
The vitamin is mainly derived from sunshine, but you can also get it from nutritional supplements, or by eating oily fish.
