Haiti earthquake compounds health needs

16 January 2010 -- WHO has released a preliminary rapid public health assessment on the ongoing Haiti earthquake crisis. Key health risks identified include wounds and injuries, diseases related to water and sanitation, lack of food, vaccine-preventable illnesses and interruption of reproductive health interventions. Actions needed include access to surgical and obstetric care, safe water and priority immunizations.
